Enjoy England Gold Award
On Thursday of last week (8th September 2010) we had our Grading Assessment for the cottages. It’s done annually, by Quality in Tourism, affiliated to Visit England, or the Tourist Board as it used to be called. She spent some time talking to us, and looking at our Access and Fire statements as well as checking our Insurance was up to date. I’d also prepared a list of everything we’ve done in the cottages and grounds since our last assessment in September 2009. I’d also prepared packs with the information we send out to guests when they enquire and book, then when they send balance payments. Oh, and an example of the Newsletter we leave for each group of guests who arrive. I always personalise these, mentioning whatever they are celebrating, or just welcoming them, but always by name. She was delighted by all of this and said she wished that everyone would do this. It must make her job (and the cottage owners) so much easier, as she can then look at all the information at her leisure, before she writes the report.
At the end of her time with us, she immediately gave us a card, stating that we had reached 5* Gold. We’re absolutely delighted and want to publicly thank Louise and June, our wonderful housekeepers, not forgetting Neil and Nigel, who help with all the ongoing indoor and outdoor maintenance jobs. We’d also like to thank Mary, who keeps our website looking spick and span and up to date.
