How to book

IMPORTANT: Due to unforseen & ongoing family circumstances in October, November & December 2011, we aren’t always able to answer enquiry emails.  Please phone instead on 01246 591263, and leave a message giving your name, phone number and a short message -  we WILL get back to you.  You can still use the email Contact form on this website, but we may not be able to reply within the times stated below.  Under normal circumstances, your enquiries will usually be replied to within 24 hours.  If you don’t hear from us within 48 hours at the very most, please contact us by land line telephone (01246 591263).  Alternatively, you can send a text (07584 188002) – mobile phone signals are poor here, and we may not receive your phone call.

How many nights would you like to stay?

WEEKENDS are our speciality – and that’s all we do in the Barn or Steadings (no mid-week or full weeks!)

  • Steadings (ie the Barn & the Stables, sleeping up to 15 + 2 babies) – available for weekends of up to 3 nights, though you can tag one extra night on to the start or end.  Normal start day is Friday.
  • The Barn (sleeping up to 11 + 1 baby) is available for weekends of up to 3 nights, and again, you can tag one extra night on at the start or end.  Normal start day is Friday.

However,

  • The Stables (sleeping up to 4 + baby) is available for weekends (3 nights Friday start), midweeks (4 nights Monday start) and full weeks (7 nights Friday start).  We try to be flexible on start days, dependent on other bookings .. just contact us with your requests.

What next?

Check availabilityOur Availability Calendar is kept as up to date as possible, so your next step is to see if the dates you want are available.  We use ORANGE for The Barn bookings, and GREEN for The Stables bookings.  To check on availability look for white space for your dates.

What we need to know

Whether you contact us by phone, email, or our contact form, please remember to include

  • number of people in your party (broken down into number of adults (over 18), number of children (2 – 17) and number of babies (under 2 years)
  • number of nights required
  • date(s) requested (specific dates or something as vague as the year or month!)

If your dates aren’t available, don’t despair; see if there are other dates that may be suitable.  If not, we suggest that you still contact us, as we may be able to suggest other cottages which do have availability, or specialist websites.

So you’ve decided you’d like to stay, now what?

Once you have decided you’d like to stay with us, you should contact us just to check that the dates are available.  We will then update our website to show that the dates are provisionally held for you.  Then send your deposit, for which we will send a receipt, by email or post, which will give details of when your balance is due.  Payments can be made by cheque or bank transfer (details of our bank account will be sent to you).   We don’t send reminders, so ask that you make a note of payment dates.

We prefer contact with our guests to be on a personal level,  even if it’s by email, so we don’t offer online booking.  Other than our Booking Form, there will be no pro-forma letters or invoices.  Instead you will receive a personally written communication which is relevant to you and your enquiry or booking.

Please note that we cannot hold dates for more than 7 days.  If you haven’t contacted us by then, we will post the dates back on our calendar to show that they are available.

Cancellation Insurance

Cancellation insurance is recommended just in case the worst should happen, and we can offer a scheme which has been developed by the Pavey insurance group specially for holiday cottage users.  The scheme offers essential cover for those taking holidays in the UK, and provides protection for holiday bookings and travel.  When your booking is confirmed by us, you are legally bound to pay if you have to cancel your holiday, as well as losing your deposit.   However, if we can re-book the dates we will refund your payment/s.  Correspondence regarding this insurance is between you and the Pavey Group and does not involve us, though we will send the leaflet on request (tick box on our Booking form.)
